JAMMU, Feb 25: In its yet another endeavour of providing meaningful learning to both the teachers and the students, Jodhamal Public School got International recognition through Generation Global-A Tony Blair Institute for Global Change.
Mubeen Butt Generation Global coordinator from Jodhamal Public School participated in the conference at Taj Mann Singh Hotel, New Delhi wherein a delegation of highly acclaimed dignitaries from the US had come together to look at the strategies to promote open-mindedness, tolerance and resilience to extremism.
Amongst the dignitaries from US was Farah Pandit, a diplomat entrepreneur, a foreign policy strategist and former diplomat, who has been a political appointee in George HW Bush, George Bush and Barack H. Obama administrations.
The delegation also comprised of Mayor of Louisville, Mayor Greg Fischer and Mayor Tom Tait, an elected Mayor of Anaheim. Rebecca Skellet a senior programme manager at ISD spreading the Strong Cities Network was also one of the delegates.
Mubeen Butt was the only teacher invited from across India to represent J&K as she had piloted the Extremism module for Generation Global and has also helped to train through Skype about 120 government school teachers from Kashmir region about the usage of Generation global.
Butt during the conference discussed the various measures taken up by the school to help students develop into companionate and kind citizens and also how the students are encouraged to discuss difficult topics like extremism, human trafficking, drug abuse, refugee crises etc. with students across the globe which helps to broaden up the vision of the students and develops in them the values of empathy and resilience.
Principal Trilok Singh appreciated Mubeen Butt’s efforts in making the students of Jodhamal get the International Dimension to their studies by way of the Video Conferencing with students of different countries of the world.
