JAMMU, Dec 5: Dr SD Singh, IGP Jammu inaugurated the 5th Christmas T20 Cricket Cup in the presence of Fr Kuriakose, Chairman CSO, Yudhveer Sethi Sr BJP Leader, Vivek Gupta, SSP Jammu, Ranjeet Kalra, Vice Chairman Sports Council Jammu and SSPs Rajesh Sharma and RK Bhat.
The tournament is jointly being organized by Christian Sports Organization Jammu & Zonal Police Headquarters Jammu and supported by Diocese of J&K. The slogan of the tournament is ‘Be Healthy- Don’t Do Drugs’.
Speaking on the occasion IGP stressed upon the youth to remain away from drugs and allied evils and stay fit and healthy.
Fr Kuriakose, Yudhveer Sethi and Ranjeet Kalra also spoke on the occasion.
Earlier in the opening match KC Sports Club defeated Singh Club Akhnoor by a huge margin of 128 runs in a one-sided affair. Batting first, KC Sports Club scored 161 for 7 wickets in 20 overs. Hisham Saleem (74), Shubham Khajuria (32) and Arjun Choudhary (21) runs were the main contributors. Sunil took 3 wickets, while Ragu and Ankush took 2 wickets each from Singh Club.
In reply, Singh Akhnoor bundled out for meagre 38 runs.
From KC Sports Club, Shubam and Vishal took 4 wickets each, while Nitin and Aman took 1 wicket each. Shubham Khajuria was adjudged as the man of the match.
In Under-10 Exhibition Match, Jammu Budding Red defeated Jammu Budding Blues by 11 runs.
Jammu Red scored 94 runs with Dhruv (40), Parmeet (14) runs. Udit took 1 wicket.
In reply, Jammu Blue managed to score 83 runs with Neel (23), Aryan Bakshi (19) and Rudhar 17 runs being the main scorers. Dhruv took 1 wicket. Dhruv was declared as the man of the match.
