JAMMU, Oct 11: Heritage School under the aegis of SPIC MACAY organised ‘Fall Retreat’ a musical bonanza, here today. The programme featured the renowned Hindustani vocalist Vidushi Kalapini Komkali recipient of fellowship from Department of Culture, Govt of India and Kumar Gandharva award by Pratisthan of Pune.
The programme commenced with the lighting of the ceremonial lamp followed by the welcome address.
It has been a constant endeavour of SPIC MACAY, headed by Dr Sapna K Sangra, State chairperson and Dr Seema Rohmetra, Coordinator, Jammu Chapter, to form a connect with the students by bringing them in close proximity to Indian art, culture and music. Jammu chapter aims to make students more aware about the Indian and world heritage.
This initiative makes education more holistic and meaningful as it enables one to be in touch with one’s roots.
Komakali enthralled the audience with her mellifluous renditions. She was ably accompanied by Shambunath Bhattacharya on tabla and Chetan Nigam on harmonium.
The honoured guests transported the music connoisseurs to sublime world of heavenly renditions.
