KATHUA, Oct 10: To felicitate the history creator Chess men’s team of the College, a formal function was organized in the premises of Government Degree College (GDC), here today.
Earlier, PG, Jammu University, Govt Degree College, Hiranagar, GGM Science College, Jammu and Govt Degree College Kathua reached the semifinals, out of 27 teams.
The final match was played between Govt Degree College Kathua and GGM Science College, Jammu in which Govt Degree College Kathua won the match by 3:2 and lifted the Championship to retain the title for consecutive third time.
All the players namely Mohit Singh Jasrotia (Captain), Basmir Mohd, Parshotam Singh, Sanjeev Jastrotia, Vijay Bharat Singh and Vinod Kumar performed very well and made their presence felt. Two players of the team were also selected for North Zone Inter-University Chess championship.
College Principal, Dr Nater Singh and the teaching staff too shared this moment of joy with the winners and assured them of full support in future also. The Principal also lauded the efforts of Physical Director, Dr Balwinder Singh and Team-in-charge, Dr Mohinder Nath Sharma for providing proper training and guidance to the students.
