Dr Pradeep Sankhyadhar Memorial Open Badminton Tourney commences

JAMMU, May 12: Dr Pradeep Sankhyadhar  Memorial J&K Open Badminton Tournament, organized by Young’s Badminton Club in collaboration with Jammu City & District Badminton Association got underway at Indoor Badminton Hall,  MA Stadium, here today.
About 200 young boys and girls drawn from Jammu and remote areas like Yakh, Udhampur, and Akhnoor etc participated in the event.
Rajesh Gupta, MLA Jammu East was the Chief Guest on the inaugural function, while Rajeev Gupta,
Jr. Vice President, Chamber of Commerce was the Guest of Honour.
Sher Singh (KAS) and Varinder Sharma In-charge SAI, Sports Training Center, Jammu were the special guests.
Prominent among others present on the occasion were Dr OD Sharma, General Secretary of J&K Badminton Association; Balbir Singh Jamwal,  General Secretary Jammu District Badminton Association; Romesh Kumar, General Secretary, Young’s Badminton Club; Som Raj Gupta; Satpal Sharma, SAI Badminton Coach; Sultan Mirza, Pawanjeet Singh, S Saravanan, Gurvinder Singh, Puran Chand and Managers of the J&K State Sports Council.
Aman Badyal, Suresh Kumar, Sunil Bakshi, were officials of the tournament.
Earlier, in Under-10 boys singles, Rishav defeated Krishna Bali by 21-16, 21-11, Shivang got better of Mander Metha by 21-06, 21-06, Bhavdeep Singh trounced Aryan by 21-14, 21-08, Harsh Sharma outplayed Laksh 21-10, 21-04, Raghav prevailed over Ayushman 24-22, 21-23, 11-21, Vansh drubbed Rohan 21-09, 21-15, Parth outclassed Sarmanya by 21-08, 21-12 and Sant Singh beat Pranav by 23-21, 20-22, 21-17.
In Under-15 singles, Yadunandan drubbed Sarthak 21-5,21-15, Aarush trounced Sarthak Sehdev 21-8, 23-21, Hrithik beat Madhav by 21-17, 21-08, Simar got better of Arunav 21-11, 21-14 and Ashutosh prevailed over Navdeep 21-7, 21-08.
In Under-19 boys singles, Aryan Sharma defeated Shubham by 21-05, 21-06 and Vibohar got better of Bunty 21-16, 21-06.
