DODA, Apr 13: On the eve of Baisakhi, District Police Doda organized an Athletic Competition ‘Run for Fun’ from Dessa Chowk Doda to Old Bridge Pull Doda under Civic Action Programme, here.
The 6 kilometers run was flagged off by MLA Doda Shakti Raj Parihar who was the chief guest on the occasion, while Deputy Commissioner, Doda Bhupinder Kumar, SSP Doda Mohammad Shabir, Additional SP Hqrs, Doda,. Vinay Kumar, Dy SP DAR DPL Doda Nazir Ahmed Ganai, DySP Hqrs Doda Ifthikar Ahmed, District Youth Services Sports Officer Doda, Dewan Chand Thakur and other officers of Police and Civil administration were present on the occasion.
Over 500 runners from various parts of the District Doda participated in the event.
Mohammad Rafiq secured 1st position and was awarded with cash reward of Rs 5,000 and certificate.
Similarly 2nd position was claimed by Ram Raj who was awarded with cash reward of Rs. 3,000 and certificate, while the 3rd position was bagged by Ajay Singh who was awarded with a cash prize of Rs.2000 and a certificate.
While speaking on the occasion, Mr Parihar, appreciated the role of J&K Police for organizing such activities under CAP. He said the event will help in bettering the relations between Police and Public, besides promoting sports games.
Deputy Commissioner Doda, Bhupinder Kumar and SSP Doda, Mohammad Shabir also spoke on the occasion and threw light on the importance of games and sports.
