UDHAMPUR, Nov 12: District Udhampur Athletic Meet for boys and girls commenced at Subash Stadium here today.
The meet was declared open by the chief guest Zahid Saif Wani Deputy Superintendent of Police (DySP) Headquarters, whereas Rajiv Dogra Volleyball Coach was the guest of honour and RC Sharma Athletic Coach (SAI) was the special guest.
The meet is being organized by District Udhampur Athletic Association under the aegis of J&K Amateur Athletic Association and J&K Sports Council.
130 boys and 70 girls from every nook and corner of the district Udhampur including Army Schools and Kendriya Vidyalayas participated in the meet.
Earlier, Sunil Sharma President District Udhampur Athletic Association welcomed the participants and other distinguished guests.
Inderjeet Singh is the Organizing Secretary of the meet whereas meet is being organized under the supervision of RC Sharma, Athletic Coach. Raj Kumar, Mohit Khajuria, Sanjay Sharma, Rahul Singh and Rajnish Sharma acted as officials.
The meet is being organized in under-14 to 16 age groups and under-16 to 20 age groups in 100 meters, 800 meters, 2000 meters, Long Jump, Shot Put, 4X100 meters Relay Race.
A large number of sports lovers, prominent citizens and students were witnessed the competition.
In under-14 to 16 100 meters (boys), Taranjeet Singh, Kamalpreet and Sumit Kumar bagged first, second and third positions respectively, whereas un under-16 to 20 (boys), Sourav Magotra, Aniket and Afreen clinched first, second and third positions respectively.
In under-14 to 16 800 meters (boys), Ranvir Singh, Ganesh Sharma and Maqsood Ali bagged first, second and third positions respectively, whereas in girls category, Krtika, Ruchi and Muskaan Tiwari clinched first, second and third positions respectively.
In under-14 to 16 Long Jump (girls), Somiya, Anju Devi and Arushi secured first, second and third positions respectively, whereas in under-16 to 20 category, Shivali, Piyush Sharma and Simran clinched first, second and third positions respectively.
Meanwhile, J&K Amateur Athletics Association is going to conduct Kathua District Athletics Competitions on November 14 and 15 at Sports Stadium Kathua.
The events which will be conducted include 100 meters, 600 meters, Long Jump and Shotput for under-14 boys and girls. 100 meters, 200 meters, 400 meters, 1500 meters, Long Jump and Shotput for under-16 boys and girls where as 100 meters, 200 meters, 400 meters, 800 meters, 1500 meters, Long Jump and Shotput for under-18 boys and girls.
