KATRA, Sept 22: All India Devotional Song Competition, as a part of Navratra Festival 2017, began today at Yog Ashram Complex amidst lighting of traditional lamp by Yog Acharya Swami Yoga Nand Ji Maharaj.
In the preliminary round of competition, Vivek Mohan from Jammu and Anmol Raja from Hoshiarpur took 1st position. Mohinder Soni from Jammu and Sukhjinder Yamla from Amritsar got 2nd position and 3rd position was held by Sargam Sharma from Link Road Jammu. There were 12 auditioned participants; five were from outside State and 07 from within State. The winners were provided cash prizes of Rs 10,000/-, Rs 5,000/- and Rs 3,000/- respectively.
The Devotional Song Competition was adjudged by the panels of experts in music, including Dr Usha Bhagati (Ex HoD Music of many degree colleges) Prof Parveen Sabharwal (Professor of Music) and Ravi Magotra, former Programme Head in Radio Kashmir Jammu,
The grand finale of the All India Devotional Song Competition will be held on 29th of September and winners will be awarded with gold amounting to Rs 3 lakh and a recording contract with Venus Records & Tapes Ltd and likewise the runners ups will get gold worth Rs one lakh and Rs 50,000/- respectively.
Proceedings of the competition were conducted by Rakesh Wazir, who is also the chairman of the said competition. He said that famous singers, lined up for their guest performances on the stage of the event, included Shanker Sahni and Amrinder Bobby on 25th September, Hasmat/Sultana on 26th September, Nooran Sisters on 27th Sept, Diljaan & Masha Ali on 28th Sept and finally Hans Raj Hans will perform in the finals to be held on 29th Sept and live telecast of the event is available on Shradha Mh one from 9 PM onwards daily.
Celebrity singers Nidhi Kohli, Peji Shah Koti (Brother of famous singer Master Saleem) Addl SPs Naresh Singh, H K Nazar, DySP Ashok Sharma, SHO Arvind Sambyal, Shyam Lal Kesar, Shiv Kumar Sharma and Virender Kesar were also present on the occasion.
