Udhampur, May 23: The District-Level Inter-School and Inter-Zone Sports Meet, organized by the District Youth Services and Sports (DYSS) Department, began with great enthusiasm in Udhampur, featuring over 361 young male athletes from various zones.
Participants took a pledge to remain committed to health and discipline. The opening day witnessed spirited competitions, with Zone Ghordi winning the U-14 boys’ Volleyball final against Zone Dudu by (25–17, 25–21), while in the U-17 category, Zone Udhampur defeated Zone Dudu by (25–22, 25–22). In fencing, Samar Pratap (India Kids School), Kaushik and Saras Chalotra (both from Happy Model School) clinched the top spots in epee, foil and sabre respectively in the U-17 category.
In U-14 fencing, Suryansh (APS Udhampur) won in sabre, Rohan in foil and Arvind (India Kids School) in epee. Trials for kickboxing and boxing were also held, showcasing the diversity and promise of emerging sports talent in the district.
