Yonex-Sunrise J&K UT Masters Badminton C’ship concludes

JAMMU, Mar 2: The Yonex-Sunrise J&K UT Masters (Veteran) Badminton Championship 2025 organized by Badminton Association of Jammu and Kashmir in collaboration with Jammu and Kashmir Sports Council, concluded today at Police Line Badminton Hall, Jammu. The two-day championship, witnessed enthusiastic participation across multiple veteran categories.
Som Raj Gupta, senior player and former state champion, was the chief guest and distributed prizes among the winners and runners-up. Dr OD Sharma, Vice President of the Badminton Association of India and Chairman of the Badminton Association of J&K, presided over the function. Prominent among those present were DV Sharma (President BAJK), Dushyant Sharma (Treasurer BAJK), Balbir Jamwal, Basanti Bhat, Pawanjit Singh and Sukhdev Singh.
In singles events, Akshey Behl (MS-35), Rohan Slathia (MS-40), Shivali Bhat (WS-40), Puran Chand (MS-45), Vivek Mehta (MS-50), Sanjeev Arora (MS-55) and Daljit Singh (MS-60) clinched titles in their respective categories.
In men’s doubles, the winning pairs were Abhishek & Sourab (MD-35), Mohit Jain & Vipen Sharma (MD-40), Vishal Dogra & Vikash Sharma (MD-45), Vivek Mehta & Vikas Verma (MD-50), Sukhdev Singh & R.K. Dubey (MD-55) and Romesh Sharma & Daljit Singh (MD-60).
The championship featured competitions in age groups ranging from 35+ to 80+ for men and women in singles, doubles and mixed doubles. Matches were conducted under the supervision of Chief Referee Rahul Sharma.
