JAMMU, Jan 8: A splendid bowling display by medium pacer Ajay Yadav (16/5) helped Jharkhand to bundle out Jammu and Kashmir for meagre 151 runs after the inclement weather conditions and wet-outfield played spoilsport by wasting the play of entire first day and the first session of day-2 in the Ranji Trophy Group-C match at GGM Science College Hostel ground here today.
In reply, Jharkhand were 9/0 with openers Md Nazim (8) and Kumar Deobrat (0) at stumps on day-2 today.
Earlier, winning the toss and batting first, Jammu and Kashmir lost 5 quick wickets at 43 runs within first 16 overs including the wicket of skipper Parvez Rasool (3).
However, brilliant Owais Shah (76) and seasoned Irfan Pathan salvaged the sinking ship by making a valuable partnership of 59 runs to take the score to 102 runs, before Pathan was dismissed at his individual score of 15 runs off 47 balls. Then Owais was joined by young Musaif Ajaz who showed signs of his class and composure in his brief knock of 11 runs, studded with 2 crispy boundaries.
Owais continued his brilliance and hit 8 delectable boundaries and 4 towering sixes in his 94-ball knock. Despite, the failure of most of the batsmen, it was south-paw Owais Shah who won hearts with his superb batting display. Qamran Iqbal and debutant Govind Sharma also chipped in with 11 and 6 runs respectively.
From Jharkhand, Ajay Yadav took 5 important wickets by conceding 16 runs in his 11.4 overs, while Anukul Roy bagged 3 wickets. Ashish Kumar and Shahbaz Nadeem claimed 1 wicket each.
