Wushu players, fencers accorded rousing reception

JAMMU, Feb 18: The players of fencing and wushu, who brought laurels for the State of Jammu and Kashmir at 35th National Games were received by the members of J&K State Sports Council at Railway Station, here today.
Apart from the office bearers of Wushu and Fencing Associations, the players were received by the members of the Council headed by chef-de-mission, H S Gill.
The winners were garlanded along with their coaches.
The Secretary of J&K State Sports Council, Daleep Thussu appreciated the hard work of the medal winners and congratulated them on behalf of the Council.
Meanwhile, according to an official handout issued here, the Council has clarified that J&K State Amateur Boxing Association had not informed about their arrival at Jammu to the reception committee of the Council and that is why no member from Sports Council received them.
The handout added that the Chief Sports Officer, Abdul Qayoom has taken serious note for this irresponsible act of the J & K Amateur Boxing Association.
