Wrestler Kaka of J&K lifts 23rd Dera Kesari title

KATRA, Apr 14: Wrestler Kaka of R S Pura Jammu lifted the 23rd Annual Dera Kesari 2014 title by defeating Kalu of Bishnah in a neck to neck bout that lasted for 22 minutes at Dera Baba Banda Bahadur in Reasi, today.
The dangal was organized by Dera Baba Banda Bahadur Parbandhak Committee Baba Banda Bahadur Sikh Samardi in association with J&K Indian Style Wrestling Association under the over all supervision of its president, Shiv Kumar Sharma and Baba Jatinder Pal Sodhi (Gaddi Nashin).
Additional District Commissioner,  Reasi, Rajinder Singh  Tara, was the chief guest on the  occasion, who distributed the prizes among the  winners and runner-up wrestlers.
Treasurer Indian Style Wrestling Association of India Shiv Kumar Sharma presided over the function, while Jagdish Mehra, District Project Officer and Tehsildar Katra Gian Chand were the guests of honour.
ADC Rajinder Singh Tara and Shiv Kumar Sharma gave Rs 4,000 cash prize money along  with traditional silver “Gurj (Gadda) and Patta” to winner of first malli Wrestler  Kaka  and Rs 3000 was given to runner-up wrestler Kalu by Jagdish Mehra and Gian Chand.
In all, 36 bouts were played in the day-long dangal.
