Doda, Apr 10: Police organized a women Cricket tournament at Sports Stadium, here today under Civic Action Programme (CAP), in which a number of women teams of the district participated.
The tournament was first of its kind and organized by District Police with an aim to encourage the spirit of sports among the women and to provide them opportunities to display their talent in the field of sports.
DC Doda, Vishesh Paul Mahajan, was the chief guest. SSP Abdul Qayoom-JKPS while interacting with the participating teams congratulated them for their enthusiastic participation and said that it has been the endeavor of Doda Police to organize a number of programmes mainly to involve youth to provide them opportunity in the field of sports and such sports events will be organized in future also.
The final match of the tournament was played between Green Champ Doda and Sports & Fitness Hub Doda, wherein Green Champ Doda emerged as winner which was given cash prize of Rs, 25,000 along with trophy.
The cash prize of Rs, 15,000 along with trophy was also given to the runner up team. Besides, cash prizes of Rs, 5100 with trophies were also given to each player of the series, best bowler, best batter etc. The sports kits were also distributed among the participating teams.
The tournament was organized by Jaswant Singh, DySP Hqrs. Doda, while ASP Hqrs. Doda, Shakeel Rehman Bhat, DySP DAR Doda, Susheel Kumar, SHO PS Doda Inspector Arun Sharma and other officers of Civil /Police Administration were also present during the event.
