JAMMU, July 2: “Champions of the Month” in the various categories of the Sunday Series of Sport Climbing Competitions being organized by Tawi Trekkers J&K, were honoured today in a simple function held during the conduct of 5th round of Sport Climbing Competition held at Sprawling Buds ICSE School, Bantalab (Jammu).
Chairman of Team Jammu, Zorawar Singh Jamwal, who is also president of the Mountaineering Association of J&K was the chief guest on the occasion. He presented gifts to the winners in the presence of Ram Khajuria (president of the Club), Shawetica Khajuria (general secretary) and Vishal Shoor (SDPO Damana).
Whereas Prarna Charak of Government College for Women, Parade who secured first position in all the four rounds in women’s category of the Sunday Series of Sport Climbing Competitions held during the month of June was declared the “Champion of the Month” while Aryan Rauthan of Army Public School, Damana who secured top position in first three rounds and second in the 4th round of the competition bagged the title of “Champion of the Month” in the Sub Junior Boys category.
Similarly, Vidur Shoor of G D Goenka Public School Jammu who collected 365 points by securing first position in the first three rounds and third position in 4th round was declared the “Champion of the Month” in the Mini Boys category whereas Herman Samotra and Manya Verma (both of Sprawling Buds ICSE School) won the prestigious title of “Champion of the Month” in the Junior Boys and Mini Girls category, respectively.
There was not much competition in the Junior Girls and Sub Junior Girls Categories in which Meetali Khajuria of St Xavier Convent Senior Secondary School and Jeevika of Sprawling Buds ICSE School were adjudged the “Champions of the Month” after the 4th round of the Competition. Second and 3rd position holders in all the categories of the competition were also honoured on the occasion.
Meanwhile, 5th round of the Sunday Series of Sport Climbing Competitions was organized today under the overall supervision of Sumit Khajuria, vice president of Mountaineering Association of J&K. Technical guidance was, however, provided by Shivani Charak and Arun Deep Singh, both international climbers.
The overall results were almost on expected lines with Prarna Charak leading others in the women category, Deepak Singh and Jeevika Verma winning in Sub Junior Boys and Sub Junior Girls category, respectively. The other winners were Ayaana Bhagat in Mini Girls category, Harshveer Singh in Mini Boys category, Meetali Khajuria in Junior Girls category and Saksham Slathia in the Junior Boys category.
