9th edition of Kashmir Mega Football tourney begins at TRC Srinagar

SRINAGAR, July 2: Kashmir valley’s biggest Football extravaganza “Kashmir Mega Football Tourney” is back with its 9th edition, which was kick started at TRC’s Synthetic turf, here today.
The grand event was inaugurated by Nuzhat Gull, Secretary J&K Sports Council in presence of Dr Bilal Ahmad Mir (Administrator, Ujala Cygnus Hospital Kashmir), social activist Haji Mohd Ashraf, Chairman J&K Football Association Nazir Ahmad, Sunil Gupta (MD Ispat India), Ex Chairman JKFC Waseem Aslam, Dr Burhan (president Water Sports Association) and other dignitaries.
The tournament which has proved to be the biggest Football extravaganza in Kashmir over the years is an annual mega sports event of the Voice for Peace and Justice (NGO). Hundreds of talented youth from across the Kashmir valley take part in this mega event every year and showcase their talents at such a big level.
Speaking on the occasion, Farooq Ganderbali (patron, Voice for Peace and Justice) said that his NGO is working with full dedication to promote sports and engaging youth to the mainstream career orientation. He said it’s very pleasing to see youth getting into sports and contributing to the restoration of peace and development in Kashmir.
“With the intend of working for youth development in terms of Sports and by other youth friendly means, our NGO has been injecting fuel of positive energy into the youth and Kashmir youth is no longer interested in any anti-social or anti-national activity, instead Kashmir youth are eyeing on to see themselves performing in Olympic games and other international events to make a name for them, their family, their JK UT and their country,” he added.
The inaugural match, which was played between JK United FC and Jhelum FC, sprayed thrilling sensation among the players and the spectators and the match ended with Jehlum FC beating JK United FC by 3 goals to 2.
