JAMMU, May 28: Magnificent performance by Vivek Suri and Ashu Kumar guided Media-XI to register emphatic 81 runs win over Hindi Newspapers-XI in a friendly cricket match, organized by KC Sports Club at KC Cricket Ground, here today.
After winning the toss, Hindi Newspapers-XI led by Ashwani Kumar put Media-XI to play first.
Batting first, Media-XI led by Mir Imran scored 164 runs for the loss of five wickets. Ashu Kumar played a splendid inning of 48 runs off 41 balls while Vivek Suri chipped in 35 runs in 26 balls.
For Hindi Newspapers-XI team, Naveen Koul was the wrecker-in-chief, who scalped 2 wickets.
In the second inning, Hindi Newspapers-XI failed to chase the target and bundled out at paltry 83 runs in 12.2 overs.
For Media XI side, Vivek Suri was the pick-of-the bowler with 3 wickets.
Vivek Suri of Media-XI was declared as man of the match for his all round performance.
At the end of the match, Kuldeep Sharma, Chairman, Central Social Welfare Board, distributed sports kit to Media-XI team.
It is to mention that, Kuldeep Sharma was chief guest on the occasion, while Arjun Choudhary, Member, J&K Sports Council provided the ground for this friendly cricket match.
