JAMMU, Nov 5: In a nail-biting finish that kept spectators on the edge of their seats, Veteran Cricket Association (VCA) J&K XI and Royal Legends Cricket Club (RLCC) were declared joint winners of the 3rd edition of the J&K Master’s Cup T20 Cricket Championship held at MA Stadium, Jammu.
The final encounter turned out to be a heart-stopping spectacle as both teams displayed remarkable skill, determination and sportsmanship. The match ended in a tie, and even the Super Over failed to produce a winner—making it a truly memorable contest for the tournament’s history.
Eminent journalist Sohail Kazmi graced the final as chief guest, accompanied by Vakil Singh, Manager MA Stadium Jammu; K S Jamwal, senior vice president; and Vivek Suri, general secretary, Veterans Cricket Association J&K.
In the final match, RLCC led by Anchal Singh, won the toss and elected to bat. However, a disciplined bowling display by Armaan and Syed of VCAJK restricted them to 43 for 5 in 10 overs. A late recovery by Ujjawal (36) and Manu Khajuria (35) helped the team post 129/9 in 20 overs. For VCAJK, Syed took 3 wickets, while Vivek Suri, Armaan, Nazar, and Vishav shared two wickets each.
Chasing 130, VCAJK XI started strongly but faced consistent wicket falls. A 49-run partnership between Vishav and Mansoor brought them close to victory, but the team fell one run short in the final over—ending the match in a tie. In the Super Over, both sides again managed only 3 runs each, resulting in the decision to declare both teams joint winners.
Man of the Match award went to Ujjawal, while Rafiq was adjudged Best Batsman of the Tournament. Jameel Bhat was named Best Fielder whereas Best Bowler & Player of the Tournament award was bagged by Anchal Singh.
