JAMMU, Nov 27: Pune University, PAU Ludhiana, HP Shimla and PU Patiala registered facile wins over their rivals in the ongoing 4th All India Vice Chancellor’s Cup Cricket Tournament, being organized by Jammu University at University grounds, here.
Earlier, Pune University drubbed GNDU Amritsar by 7 wickets in an easy contest. Batting first, GNDU scored a modest total of 102 runs in the stipulated 20 overs. Ashwani was top scorer with 43 runs, while Aman and Mandeep contributed 22 and 11 runs to the total respectively. For Pune University, Nathu Ram took 3 wickets, Sunil 2, while Vinod and Nitin claimed one wicket each.
In reply, Pune University chased the target in 13.4 overs by losing 3 wickets, thus won the match by 7 wickets. Vinod and Nitin contributed 34 and 32 runs to the total respectively, while Sunil and Arvind chipped in 17 and 16 runs respectively. For GNDU, Jagtar, Ashwani and Hinder claimed one wicket each. Vinod Narke was adjudged man of the match.
The match was officiated by Suresh Singh and Saleem-ur-Rehman as umpires.
PAU Ludhiana won by 6 wickets in another match. GB Pant University scored 116 runs in 20 overs with Manjul, Bhagat Singh, Mahesh Joshi and Amit Joshi scored 35, 26, 20 and 12 runs respectively. For PAU Ludhiana, Vinod scalped 2 wickets, while Surinder claimed one wicket.
In reply, PAU Ludhiana reached the required total in 18 overs by losing 4 wickets to win the match by 6 wickets. Harish scored brilliant 67 runs including 12 boundaries, while Krishan Kumar and Parveen Kumar contributed 15 and 12 runs to the total respectively. Surinder, Amit, Bhagat Singh and Mahesh claimed one wicket apiece for GB Pant University, Uttrakhand. Harish Kumar was declared man of the match.
The match was officiated by BCCI Panel umpires Sudhir Singh and Amit Gupta as umpires, while Yogesh Sharma acted as scorer.
In another match, HP Shimla University defeated Education Board Ajmer by 7 wickets.
Ajmer scored 119 runs, while HP Shimla chased the target easily in 12.2 overs by losing 3 wickets to win the match by 7 wickets. Harsh Khari top scored with 60 tuns for Education Board Ajmer, while Rajesh Chauhan, Rajesh Thakur, Lalit Kumar and Pushpinder Singh were major contributors with 32, 27, 25 and 21 runs for HP Shimla. Dharma Prasad took 2 wickets for HP Shimla University, while Harsh Khari claimed 2 wickets for Education Board Ajmer. Harsh Khari was adjudged man of the match.
The match was officiated by BCCI Panel umpire Harbinder Singh and Sadiq Hussain Malik, while Vijay Dogra was the scorer.
In yet another match, PU Patiala drubbed MDS University Ajmer by 68 runs. PU Patiala scored a huge total of 171 runs in 20 overs, while in reply MDS University Ajmer managed to score 103 runs to lose the match by 68 runs. For Patiala, Prem Prakash, Jasbir Singh and Harpreet Singh scored 43, 30 and 27 runs respectively, while for MDS, Vijay, Sandeep and Umesh scored 26, 20 and 20 runs to the total respectively. Umesh and Sandeep claimed 3 wickets each for MDS, while Gurpreet and Prem Parkash claimed 3 and 2 wickets for Patiala respectively. Prem Parkash was declared man of the match for his all-round display.

Meanwhile, in tomorrow’s fixture, PAU Ludhiana will take on IGNOU Delhi, PU Chandigarh will face DU Delhi, KU Kashmir will meet DDU Gorakhpur and Mumbai University will lock horns with SKUAST, Jammu.
