UT level Badminton C’ship concludes at MA Stadium

JAMMU, Mar 23: The 48th UT level Badminton Championship, organised by Badminton Association of J&K, culminated with a prize distribution ceremony at Indoor Hall MA Stadium, here today.
JMC Mayor Chander Mohan Gupta was the chief guest who gave away the prizes, while former Minister, Chander Praksh Sharma, President BAJK presided over the function.
Prominent persons including Professor Ashutosh Sharma (President JKOA), Ajay Sharma (Chairman TT J&K), Ashok Singh (DSO), Satish Gupta, Gulzar Singh Slathia, OD Sharma, DV Sharma, Dr Satish Chander, Mohd Irfan Shah, Dushyant Sharma, Iftikar Wani and many others were present during the event.
Balbir Jamwal was the organising secretary, Rahul Sharma as chief referee and Tosiff Ahmed, Vikram Saini, Divum Gupta, Sukhdev Singh, Vivek Mehta, Sunil Gurka, Waseem Rather, Bharat Bhushan were the technical officials.
About 250 players from all over J&K participated in the event.
Speaking on the occasion, the chief guest stressed the need for more and more sports among the youth and assured that the required infrastructure for this game will be coming up soon.
Shourya Pratham beat Gopesh Singh and Snowy Goswami trounced Suhani Sharma in boys and girls under-13 category, while Shourya Pratham defeated Vaibhav Mehta, while Snowy Goswami beat Shambhavi Rajput in boys and girls under-15 category and in under-17 boys and girls, Ibrahim Bin-Ajaz beat Abhijeet Jasrotia, while Krishika Mahajan defeated Unnati Jaral.
In under-19 boys and girls, Bhavya Sharma beat Aesh Goswami and Unnati Jaral trounced Krishika Mahajan respectively, while in women single, Unnati Jaral beat Snowy Goswami and in women double, Unnati Jaral and Krishika Mahajan trounced Shirjus Sharma and Shambhavi Rajput.
In mixed doubles, Vipul and Unnati beat Raghav and Rupal, while in men’s singles, Raghav Dogra trounced Bhavya Sharma and Raghav Dogra and Manish Sharma beat Bhavya Sharma and Akshay.
