JAMMU, Sept 30: Unique Public Higher Secondary School (UPHSS), Gadigarh and KV No-1 Gandhi Nagar won boys and girls kabaddi titles respectively in the Junior District Kabaddi Championship, organized by Jammu and Kashmir Amateur Kabaddi Association, which concluded here today.
In the boys final, Unique Public School defeated Shiv Public School by 20 points, while in the girls title clash, KV No-1 Gandhi Nagar drubbed Government Girls Higher Secondary School, Nawabad by a margin of 25 points.
Raman Bhalla, Minister for Housing, Horticulture and Culture was the chief guest on the valedictory function, which was presided over by Anil Gupta, president, J&K Amateur Kabaddi Association.
Prominent among other dignitaries present on the occasion were Tarsem Lal, Chief Education Officer, Jammu, Ranjeet Kalra, Assistant Director, Academic Staff of College, University of Jammu and Nico Demes, leading Businessman.
Kuldeep Kumar Gupta, general secretary, J&K Amateur Kabaddi Association, Surinder Mohan Gupta, joint secretary, Anil Modi, organizing secretary, B S Tirthi, vice-president of the Association, Dinesh Gupta, district secretary, Jammu District Kabaddi Association and Anil Gupta, Incharge Beach Kabaddi were present on the occasion.
The matches were officiated by Sanjeet Kumar, Mohan Lal, Amrik Singh, Harbans Singh, Arvinder Singh, S Ravinder Bali Harpreet Singh, Mohd Saleem, Sunny, Keshav, Tarandeep Singh, Bandna Sharma, Poonam Jamwal, Anuradha Bhagat, Nitish Bakshi and Mamta Devi.
However, the final matches were officiated by Ajay Gupta, Anil Sharma, Ankush Gupta and Vishal Jamwal NIS Kabaddi coaches of J&K State Sports Council and Youth Services and Sports Department.
Ashok Kumar, District secretary, Udhampur District Kabaddi Association was observer of the event.
The Championship was organized by the Jammu District Amateur Kabaddi Association in collaboration with J&K Kabaddi Players Co-op-Society Ltd and Unique Public Higher Secondary School, Gadigarh Jammu.
