JAMMU, Mar 26: Unemployed Physical Education candidates in Jammu and Kashmir have raised strong concerns over the Rehbar-e-Khel (REK) policy and its impact on their career prospects.
Addressing a press conference at Press Club Jammu, the candidates demanded immediate corrective action from the Government to address ongoing issues related to their employment.
The candidates raised key issues include the Government’s failure to unfreeze PET vacancies, leaving over 20,000 qualified candidates without employment opportunities. Despite recommendations from a fact-finding committee in May 2021, only partial actions have been implemented.
They further said with no PET recruitment since 2013, the delay in filling vacant positions has further exacerbated the situation, leaving highly qualified individuals, including those with BPE, BPED, MPED, M.Phil, PhD, NET, SET and JRF qualifications, without job prospects.
The candidates’ demands include filling all vacant Physical Education Lecturer posts, recruiting REK candidates as permanent faculty through a written test, and defreezing permanent PET vacancies. They also urge the Government to conduct regular Teacher Eligibility Tests (JK TAT) to meet the needs of both private and contractual institutions. The Unemployed Physical Education candidates have called on the UT Government to take swift and merit-based action to secure their future employment.
