JAMMU, Jan 9: Under the Khelo Jammu Mission and the aegis of the All J&K Chess Association, Vivek Chess Academy commenced U-11 Open Khelo Jammu Chess Tournament.
At the end of the first day, Rajyawardhan Singh and Ishaan Choudhary emerged as the early frontrunners with 3 points each. Trailing closely were Prince, Vihaan, Manushree and Keshav with 2 points each, keeping the contest open for the top three prizes.
The first three rounds saw competitive and exciting matches: In Round 1, Ishaan defeated Prince, Rajyawardhan beat Raesha and Amina advanced via walkover. Round 2 witnessed Ishaan and Rajyawardhan continuing their winning streaks, while Keshav, Vatsal, Vihaan and Prince also secured victories. Round 3 produced decisive results with Ishaan overcoming Keshav and Rajyawardhan defeating Vatsal. Other notable wins included Prince over Amina, Vihaan over Divyansh and Manushree over Aaradhya.
Swiss pairing software was used to ensure fair matchups throughout the tournament. The remaining two rounds are scheduled for January 10, which will determine the final standings and prize winners.
