Chennai, June 3:
Top seeded Indian Sriram Balaji outplayed young Neeraj Elangovan in three sets battling through three sets and losing the second before bouncing back before moving into the second round of the singles competition in the ITF Futures tennis championships at the Gandhinagar Club here today.
Sriram who was in India’s new look Davis cup squad earlier this year, demolished Neeraj in the first set. In the second set Neeraj found his groove and served and stroked powerfully to take the second set 6-3. Sriram got back his own once again to win the third set and the match.
Karunuday Singh seed 8 had to use his experience to fend off some resistance from the young talented left hander P. Saradhi Adavelly. In two more singles Main Draw matches Toshihide Matsui seed 6 brushed away qualifier Fahad Mohammed while Jatin Dahiya got the better of Rakshit Rishi.
