JAMMU, May 9: Tikri zone defeated Jib zone by two sets to one (2-1) with (27-25, 15-11, 25-20) to win the Under-14 boys volleyball title on the second day of the District Level Inter-Zonal Tournament in the disciplines of kabaddi, volleyball, wrestling and kho-kho for Under-14 and Under-17 boys and girls, here today.
Earlier, in kabaddi Under-14 boys, Jib zone defeated Udhampur zone by 21-19 points, while in kho-kho Under-14 boys, Udhampur zone got better of Jib zone by 6 points.
In wrestling, 25-30 kg Under-14 boys, Sourab Sharma of Ghordi zone won gold, while Devinder of Udhampur claimed silver.
In 30-35 kg Under-14 boys, Mohd Riaz of Chenani bagged gold, while Mohd Saleem of Tikri claimed silver.
In 35-40 kg Under-14 boys, Rajinder Singh of Ghordi bagged gold, while Akhil Sharma of Udhampur won silver.
S S Balwal, Principal Govt P G College for boys Udhampur was the chief guest on the occasion and declared the Tournament open.
168 boys drawn from 8 zones of District Udhampur participated in the tournament, which is being held under the chairmanship of Sukhdev Singh, District Youth Services and Sports Officer, Udhampur and under the supervision of Ram Lal Badyal, Zonal Physical Education Officer, Kulwanta.
