T20 Cricket Tournament commences

RAJOURI, Feb 5: With the objective of harnessing the talent of youth in sports and strengthen the Police-Public relationships in the District, District Police Rajouri under Civic Action Programme, T20 Cricket tournament was inaugurated, today.
First match was inaugurated at Ground Rajouri by Senior Superintendent of Police Rajouri, Dr Mohd Haseeb Mughal, KPS in presence of large number of citizens of Rajouri, Sports persons and Media fraternity. In the tournament, eight teams which are divided in four groups viz: A,B,C and D will try their luck and skills to wrest the honour.
Besides trophies for the winner and runner up, cash prizes would also be presented to the participating teams. Moreover, in each match, man of the match would be honoured and refreshment and sports goods would be provided to all the players.
The inaugural match was today played in D Group between Ajmer Cricket Club and Eleven Star Cricket Club. After winning the toss, Ajmer Cricket Club decided to bat first and set a score of 132 runs for 09 wickets in 20 overs. The top scorer was Mohd Rashid who made 27 runs. From Eleven Star Cricket Club side Kuldeep got three wickets.
In response, the Eleven Star Cricket Club achieved the set target just in 16 overs for 6 wickets. Sachin Singh made 79 runs just in 40 balls. From Ajmer Cricket Club side Azhar got two wickets. Sachin Singh of Eleven Star Cricket Club who made 79 runs, got two wickets and took three catches was declared man of the match. The second match of the tournament would be played tomorrow in A Group between Seven Star Cricket Club and Danishabad Cricket Club.
