Akhnoor, Feb 24: In order to inculcate a sense of sportsmanship and comraderie among the youth of Sub-Division Akhnoor, a Sub-Divisional Level Volleyball Tournament was organised at Govt Higher Secondary School (Boys) here today. The tournament was inaugurated by Farooq Qaiser, KPS, DySP/SDPO Akhnoor and was witnessed by large number of people of Akhnoor town and outskirts.
Prominent among those present on the occasion were Balji Thaploo, Principal Govt Higher Secondary School (Boys) Akhnoor, Pardeep Sharma SHO PS Akhnoor, Aman Gupta, President Youth Congress, Akhnoor Assembly Segment, Suraj Mahajan, Senior NC Leader, Sarpanchs Chamail Singh, Jagdish Kumar and Satpal Sharma.
A total of six teams, divided into two groups of three each, from various parts of Sub-Division Akhnoor are participating in the tournament which is being played on league basis.
The first semi-final was played between Border Line Club Palanwala and Pargo Club Pargwal which the former won whereas the second semifinal was played between Pinto Club Akhnoor and Police Youth Club Akhnoor which the later won.
Sham Singh Langeh, President, Akhnoor-Jourian Police Youth Club was the Commentator while Sumit Sharma and Gourav Kumar were the tournament referees.
The final will be played between Police Youth Club Akhnoor and Border Line Club Palanwala tomorrow.
The tournament is being organised under Civic Action Programme of J&K Police under the supervision of Atul Kumar Goel, SSP Jammu and ML Kaith, SP (Rural) Jammu.
