JAMMU, Mar 27: Three days J&K State Open Judo Championship, being organised by the Jammu and Kashmir Judo Association got underway at Indoor Sports Complex MA Stadium, here.
The Championship is being organised by J&K Judo Association, under the aegis of J&K State Sports Council and Jammu and Kashmir Olympic Asociation.
General Secretary J&K Judo Association and Joint Secretary Judo Federation of India, Vikas Gupta was the chief guest on the inaugural ceremony, while Varinder Dogra, Vice President JKJA was the guest of honour.
Around 200 Judokas from all over the State are taking part in the event. The participating districts include Kathua, Udhampur, Reasi, Srinagar and Jammu.
The championship is being organized by J&K Judo Association and the bouts were officiated by Suraj Bhan Singh, Arshi Nad, Vikas Dogra, Rameshwar Singh, Ritika Slathia, Shafkat Shafi, Jugal Kishore and Shakti Gupta.
Prominent among others present on the occasion were Ravi Singh DSO, Satish Gupta Manager, Shiv Kumar, Suraj Sharma, Manish Chatwal, Sahil Dogra, Naresh Kumar, Rajesh Verma, Akshay, Rohit Sadhotra and Boxing coach Anil Wadhera.
Those who won gold medals included Tanushka of BSF School, Amrit Gupta, Atul Sharma, Mohd Haseef, Arihant Mahajan, Utkarsh Sharma, Akshay Sharma, Anju Shivaj, Shreya Kotwal, Sunakshi Devi, Nirali Sharma, Sujal Gupta, Hitesh Mehra, Nitish Sharma, Sidharath Singh and Rajat Singh.
