UDHAMPUR, Aug 21: 3-days State Level Inter District Under 14, Under 17 and Under-19 Boys Handball tournament being organized by District Youth Services & Sports Department Udhampur got underway today at Mini Sports Stadium Udhampur.
Assistant Commissioner Revenue, Udhampur, Rajeev Magotra was the chief guest on the occasion who declared the tournament open.
Speaking on the occasion the chief guest complimented the efforts of the organizers and stressed upon the participants to take more part in games and sports and be physically and mentally fit. He called upon the students to play with sportsman spirit for betterment of sports.
District Youth Services and Sports Officer, Sunil Singh Sambyal, Udhampur welcomed the chief guest and gave brief account of the tournament . He said that as many as 415 boys of 33 teams from 14 districts of the state are being participated in the tournament.
The opening match was played between U-17 Boys Udhampur and Anantnag team which was won by U-17 Boys Udhampur by 20-03. Besides other match was won by U-17 Boys Leh by defeating U-17 boys Baramulla by 19-10.
The match was officiated by Ravi Singh and Vipen Photra while Mr. Jaswinder Singh and Mr. Bupinder Singh conducted the proceedings of the tournament.
Among others, Chief Education Officer, Bishan Singh, Principal GHSS Girls Udhampur, Manjula, ZPEO Panchari, Pawan Dev and a large number of students were present on the occasion.
