Jammu, June 4: A contingent of 45 Gatka players which participated in 6th Ek Onkar National Gatka Championship, organized by Gatka Federation of India at Secehiwal (Jallandhar), bagged 6 Gold, 10 silver and 11 bronze medals during the Competition.
The Gatka players from different States like Delhi, Punjab, Haryana, Chandigarh, Himachal, UP, Gujrat, Maharashtra and Jammu and Kashmir participated in the Championship.
In Under-25 Faristick team fight J&K won 4 gold, in Under-25 Faristick individual fight State won 1 gold, in Under-19 Faristick individual girls fight, J&K again claimed 1 gold, in Under-25 individual demo, 1silver, in Under-14 team demo, 6 silver, Under -17 individual demo: 1 bronze, Under-19 individual demo: 1 silver, Under-19 individual Faristick fight, 1 bronze, Under-19 team fight girls, 4 bronze and Under- 22 team fight, 4 bronze.
The team was accompanied by Lovepreet Singh as Captain and Parminder Singh as Manager.
Jammu & Kashmir Gatka Association affiliated to Gatka Federation of India organized a function at Ranjit College of Education Kunjwani to facilitate players who excelled in the Championship.
While addressing on the occasion, Manmeet Singh, Chairman Jammu & Kashmir Gatka Association lauded the players for their hard work to win medals during this Championship.
Among others who were present included S. Ranjit Singh, patron Ranjit College of Education, HS Gill Vice Chairman, S Ravinder Singh, Bittu President, Ravinder Singh O.P General Secretary, S Amarjeet Singh, Senior Coach and Ajitpal Singh, member JKGA.
