BUDGAM Oct, 10: Minister for Medical Education and Youth Services & Sports, R.S.Chib today said that Chief Minister Omar Abdullah is interested and enthusiastic for the upliftment of sports activities in J&K State and Government is committed to boost up the sports activities in all parts of the State.
The Minister was addressing a function after witnessing a good will T-20 cricket match played between teams of Budgam XI and Airforce XI at Sports Stadium Budgam today.
While appreciating the efforts of organizers for arranging such tournament Chib, said that such events besides bridging the gap between local youth and Air force personnel provide a sound platform for local youth to exhibit their talent and helps in making their way for higher sports opportunities at national and International levels.
Chib said sports is an imperative source for understanding bridging the gap between isolated communities.
Minister urged upon the players and sports lovers of Valley to take part in such events with full zeal and enthusiasm so that it can be helpful for their all round development.
Chib suggested Air Force authorities of Srinagar to organize a T-20 Cricket tournament in Budgam District in near future so that players from various parts of Valley can participate in the event and exhibit their talent and potential.
The goodwill T-20 cricket match which was organized by Air Force authorities Srinagar on the eve of Air Force day as a gesture of harmony and friendship. The match was won by Air Force team by 30 runs.
During prize distribution ceremony Minister besides, making announcement of giving Rs 20 thousands to the two players of each team distributed trophies and awards among both the teams. The man of the match award of Rs 4000 was given to Mustafa Bhat of Budgam XI, Best batsman award of Rs 3000 was give to Ahsan Ali of Budgam XI and best bowler was given to Goutam of Air Force team.
Deputy Commissioner Budgam, Mohammad Akbar Ganai, Air Commodore, AoC Air Force Station Srinagar, D. Chowdhary, Director Youth Services & Sports J. P Singh, Secretary Sports, Dilip Thusu, officers of Air Force and CRPF, participants and local people were present on the occasion.
