POONCH, Feb 5: A sports kits and hockey equipment distribution ceremony was organized today at Synthetic Hockey AstroTurf, Poonch, in memory of late Sham Lal Sharma, followed by a candle-lighting ceremony.
Deputy Commissioner Poonch, Ashok Kumar, attended as chief guest, while ACR Poonch and DYSSO Mohd Qasim were guests of honour. Sports kits, hockey stick covers, tracksuits and other equipment were distributed to players of Sham Lal Hockey Club, Power House Hockey Club, Khelo India Hockey Centre, and PMDP Hockey Centre, Poonch.
The chief guest highlighted Sham Lal Sharma’s pivotal role in promoting hockey, especially among women, and lauded his family for continuing his legacy. Players were urged to stay dedicated and bring laurels to the district and country. The event was organized by Sham Lal Hockey Club in collaboration with Power House Hockey Club, technically supervised by coaches Pawan Kumar, Mukesh Kumar and Saval Ahmed and conducted by anchor Vijay Kumar PEM.
