JAMMU, Dec 18: Minister of State for Education, Technical Education, Culture, Tourism, Department of Horticulture, Floriculture and Parks, Priya Sethi today said that it is essential to promote social, cultural and heritage education in students and teach them to take pride in the traditions, customs and language of their forefathers.
The Minister said this during the Annual Day cum prize distribution function of Shri Mahavir Jain Higher Secondary School here today.
Financial Commissioner Agriculture Production Department Pramod Jain, senior political leader Yudhvir Sethi besides various prominent citizens were present during the event.
While addressing the gathering of students, teachers and parents, the Minister said that parental engagement in a child’s life in participation with the school and their teachers is essential for growth and development of students as confident, moral and socially aware adults.
“Parents and teachers partnership plays a crucial role in shaping the future of students into a well mannered and responsible citizen which needs to be strengthened at all levels” she added.
Priya Sethi also emphasized on making students learn and experience various cultural facets of our State, various languages, arts, traditions and imbibing in them a deep cultural awareness besides love and respect for their heritage.
She said that the school has a history of producing successful, confident students who have grown up to serve state and the nation in various capacities, and hoped for its continued success in producing students of exceptional caliber.
The Minister also urged the students to make use of the excellent facilities and technologies available to them these days like smart classes, internet which brings information at the tips of their fingers.
Later, the Minister along with other dignitaries distributed prizes among the students excelling in academic as well as extracurricular activities.
The students presented their talents with a variety of programmes ranging from exhibition of dance, song to drama.
Also present on the occasion were Principal Suresh Sharma, President SM Jain Sabha Raj Kumar Jain, President SM Jain Education Society Prof Bansi Lal Jain, General Secretary Ramneek Jain, Sanjay Jain besides a large number of parents, teachers, prominent citizens and students.
