Sittu Club gets walkover, Ajit Club registers 3-0 win over APS Miran Sahib

JAMMU, Jan 14: Sittu Club got walkover against Bagh-e-Bein, whereas Ajit Club registered win over APS Miran Sahib by straight three goals to nil and registered berth in the next stage of the ongoing 2nd Shaheed Bhagat Singh Sub Junior Hockey tournament, being organized by Shaheed-e-Azam Bhagat Singh Foundation under the aegis of Hockey J&K, at KK Hakku stadium here today.
In the first match of the day, Bagh-e-Bein team failed to report to the venue and Sittu Club got walkover.
In the second match, Ajit Hockey Club registered 3-0 goals win over APS Miran Sahib and qualified for the next round of the tournament.
The players of Ajit Hockey Club started playing man-to-man marking game right from the beginning of the first half and it took time for the players of APS Miran Sahib to understand their strategy.
Taking benefit of the man-to-man marking game, Gurpreet Singh of Ajit Hockey Club netted the first goal of the match in the 15th minute of the first half, which served a jolt to the players of APS Miran Sahib.
In 20th minute of the first half, enthusiastic Gurdeep Singh again bounced back and with his praiseworthy game, scored another goal and raised the scoreboard to 2-0 goals.
The opponent APS Miran Sahib players failed to equalize the scoreboard and the first half ended with lead of 2-0 goals over them.
In the second half, players of APS Miran Sahib and Ajit Hockey Club started playing mind-games. However, in a break through Pawandeep Singh of Ajit Hockey Club after finding a loop-hole netted the goal in the 50th minute and raised the lead on the opponent team by 3-0 goals.
The playing sense of APS Miran Sahib failed to show good results, which in other words proved beneficial for the Ajit Hockey Club to enter into the next round of the tournament by winning the match by straight three goals to zero.
The matches were officiated by Jagjit Singh, Ravinder Singh, Joginder Singh and GS Bakshi.
On the occasion, Jagdish Shastri, noted social worker from district Reasi was the guest of honour, who while speaking, said that the Government’s support to promote Hockey in J&K is the need of the hour.
Among others present were Sant Waryam Singh, leader Namdhari Sangat Jammu, Pinku Goswami, Veteran Hockey player of State, Tirlok Singh, Davinder Bakshi and other sports lovers.
In tomorrow’s fixture, Hira Nagar Club will clash with Guru Nanak Nagar Hockey Club and Shaheed Bhagat Singh Hockey Club will take on MBS Hockey Club Simbal Camp at same venue.
