Singh CC Akhnoor wins 7th Pawan Memorial T20 title

AKHNOOR, Dec 27: Outplaying Cantt Cricket Club, Satwari by a narrow margin of 16 runs in the summit clash, Singh Cricket Club Akhnoor lifted the title trophy of the 7th Pawan Memorial T20 Cricket Tournament, organized by Singh Club Akhnoor at Govt Boys Higher Secondary ground, here.
Former Minister, Sham Lal Sharma was the chief guest on the valedictory function, who alongwith guest of honour, Zorawar Singh distributed prizes among the winners on the occasion.
Speaking on the occasion, Sham Lal said that sports apart from helping one to keep fit, also inculcates discipline and team spirit among the participants.
Zorawar Singh, while speaking on the occasion said sports and games help youth to shun drugs and not to derail from the mainstream.
Earlier, winning the toss and batting first, Singh Club scored 130 runs in the stipulated 20 overs. Pankaj Lada top scored with 25 runs, while Raman Dutta contributed unbeaten 22 runs to the total. Asif and Chandan scored 15 runs each. For Cantt Club, Pranav and parshotam bagged 2 wickets each, while Bodhraj, Dheeraj and Vinay Dogra claimed one wicket each.
In reply, Cantt Club bundled out for 114 runs to lose the match by 16 runs. Sagar, Bodhraj, Rakesh and Pranav scored 23, 19, 18 and 14 runs to the total respectively. For Singh Club, Sunny Mahi and Raman Dutta claimed 3 wickets each, while Sourav bagged 2 wickets. Sham Singh Langeh and Bunty claimed one wicket each.
The winners were presented a cash prize of Rs 15,000 and a trophy, while the runners-up team was presented a cash prize of Rs 10,000 and a trophy.
The Tournament was held under the supervision of Sham Singh Langeh, president Singh Cricket Club Akhnoor.
