JAMMU, June 11: Promising youngster Shubham Khajuria has been selected as Vice Captain of the North zone Under-19 Team which will participate in the Col Hemu Adhikari Trophy, commencing from June 12, 2014 at Mysore in Karnataka.
Ankush Bains of HPCA will be Captain of the Team.
In all play all pattern, the five zonal teams of the Country including North, South, East, West and Central will play four matches each.
Heaping praise for Shubham Khajuria, coach Varinder Sharma said, “Shubham is a tremendous cricketer, who always loves to be in action. Players like Shubham are the future of modern day cricket. He has the honour of steering J&K to many wins with his batting display.”
Talking to EXCELSIOR Shubam said, “I have learnt many new things at the Zonal Cricket Academy (ZCA) Camp in Dharamshalla. The coaching staff there was brilliant, who worked hard on the basics and prepared us for the bigger circuit. However, NCA has played a very big role in my development as a player as the training there has helped me to have full measure of my strengths and weaknesses”.
It is pertinent to mention here that National Selectors will be meeting on June 20, 2014 to pick the Under-19 Indian team for South Africa Tour, so good performance in this Tournament will be crucial for Shubam to get the selectors nod.
