JAMMU, Aug 1: Shaurya International School (SIS) organized an Inter-School Swimming Competition for the age group of under-17, under the banner of Sahodaya Complex.
Harinder Mahajan, Chairman, Shaurya Education Society graced the occasion as the chief guest and Sahil Mahajan, Vice-Chairman, Shaurya International School was also present as the guest of honour.
More than 100 students from different schools of Jammu province participated in the event such as K.C International School, Doon International School, IDPS, Army Public School, Ratnuchak, Birla Open Mind School, KC International School, GD Goenka School, Presentation Convent, Jodhamal Public School, Army Public School, Damana and Heritage School Jammu.
A great deal of planning, practicing and hard work which had gone into organizing this event, saw exciting and enthusiastic participation by the students of all the schools present over there. The special attraction of the event was the Aqua Dance performance by the students of Shaurya International School.
The competition had a display of athleticism and sportsmanship as the swimmers exhibited wonderful swimming skills in the Freestyle, Backstroke, Breaststroke, Butterfly, Individual Medley and Relay encouraged by the clapping and applause by the audience.
All the swimmers put in a lot of effort to emerge as the best. First position was bagged by Jodhamal Public School while K.C Public School secured second position.
School’s Chairman, Harinder Mahajan, emphasized the importance of sports and the role they played in the all-round development of the students and also said that the School takes pride in its commitment to nurturing well- rounded individuals and these students’ participation in the championship is a testament to the school’s dedication to fostering excellence in sports.
Sahil Mahajan, Vice-Chairman, stressed on the advantages of becoming a sportsperson and further added that sports can help in becoming more self-assured, physically fit, and productive, in addition to providing a financially lucrative job.
Principal, Dr. Rajesh Gandral said that the purpose of organising the event by the school is to make students aware of swimming and to prepare them for the state level and national level championships.
