JAMMU, Aug 27: GDC Udhampur, MBS College, GMC and ASCOMS have sealed berth in the last 4 stage in men’s section, while GCW Parade, GCW Udhampur and SPMR College of Commerce have made it into the semifinals as the semis lineup has been drawn in the Inter-Collegiate Table Tennis Tournament, being organized by the Directorate of Sports and Physical Education at Gymnasium Hall, University of Jammu, here.
Earlier, in the first quarterfinal of the men’s Section, GDC Udhampur beat GGM Science College by (3-0). Ankit Sharma trounced Aman Dubey by 11-5, 12-10, Rohit Pal beat Shubham Kumar by 11-6, 11-4 and Aakashdeep outplayed Danish Mishra by 11-9, 11-5, while in the men’s second quarterfinal, MBS College beat SPMR College of Commerce by (3-1). Gurkeerat Singh drubbed Abhay Sharma by 12-10, 11-4, Jayesh Singh prevailed over Dheeraj Singh by 11-5, 11-3, Karandeep Singh lost to Vishal Singh 9-11, 12-14, 5-11 and Jayesh Singh beat Abhay Sharma by 11-4, 11-2.
In men’s third quarterfinal, GMC outclassed MAM College by (3-2). Tanveer Bandey beat Farooq Ahmed by 11-5, 11-2, Pranav Mahajan lost to Irfan Hussain by 8-11, 3-11, Nasir Ali defeated Aadil Ahmed by 11-6, 11-8, Tanveer Bandey lost to Irfan Hussain by 11-4, 7-11, 8-11 and Pranav Mahajan beat Farooq Ahmad by 11-09, 11-5, while in the 4th quarterfinal match, ASCOMS got better of PG Department by (3-0). Tapan Sharma drubbed Shubham Singh by 11-9, 11-6, Amit Anand toppled Aayush by 12-10, 11-2 and Shubham Mahajan defeated Abhninav by 9-11, 16-14, 11-7.
In 1st quarterfinal match of women section, GCW Parade beat GGM Science College by (3-0). Zahra Henaz thrashed Tsering Angmo by 11-1, 11-0, Sonalika beat Tundup by 11-3, 10-12, 11-6 and Sonali beat Rigzin by 11-6, 11-4, while in second quarterfinal, GCW Udhampur beat PG Department by (3-2). Purvi beat Sangeeta 11-1, 11-1, Parul lost to Nitani Bakshi 3-11, 5-11, Pinki prevailed over Shibali by 11-8, 11-9, Purvi lost to Nitani Bakshi 6-11, 5-11 and Parul beat Sangeeta 11-2, 11-5.
In another quarterfinal match, SPMR College of Commerce beat GDC Paloura by (3-1). Pariva lost to Shivangi Jamwal by 4-11, 11-3, 13-15, Arya got better of Shiksha Angotra by 11-1, 11-3, Simran defeated Shilpa Bali by 12-10, 7-11, 11-4 and Arya beat Shivangi Jamwal by 11-6, 11-3.
The matches were officiated by Ravish Vaid, Gourav Sharma, Amit Sharma, Sandeep Khadotra and Rekha Ratra.
The tournament is being organized by the Directorate of Sports and Physical Education, University of Jammu under the supervision of its Director, Prof Dhian S Bhau.
