Semis lineup drawn in DBP All India Kabaddi Tournament

JAMMU, Nov 18: The ongoing three-day 5th DBP All India Kabaddi Tournament, organized by Shaheed DBP Sports and Cultural Club at Government School Kotli Shah Doula grounds, R S Pura, attracted a big crowd of locals.
Since a good number of teams, including those prominent sides from outside the state are participating, today’s competition remained a close contest among local sides and the outsiders thus entertained the crowd.
On day-two of the competition, semifinals lineup has been drawn. In senior category, Jammu Team-A, Bhartia Academy Rohtak, Adarsh Club Delhi and Hanuman Club qualified for the semifinals.
Similarly, in junior group, DBP Sports Club, Pouni Chak Club, Sheild Jammu and Haryana reached semifinals. Results: Quarterfinals: DBP beat Reasi Club, Pouni Chak outplayed Green Field Jammu; Haryana beat Talab Tillo Club and Sheild Jammu downed Bhour Camp Club.
In today’s quarterfinals, Chairman, The Citizens Cooperative Bank Limited, Parveen Sharma was chief guest. He interacted with the participating teams and encouraged them. “It was heartening to see a lot of crowd, including a good number of women, witnessing the matches under flood lights,” said Parveen Sharma.
He laid emphasis on promoting the rural games in a big way on part of the government, especially in those pockets which have talent and special interest for sports.
Among other special invitees were Suresh Gupta and Sachin Gupta, both Directors of the Citizens Cooperative Bank.
Important to mention here that the event is organised every year in
memorial of brave martyrs involving their families and relations.
