JAMMU, Nov 19: The semifinal line-up has been drawn in the ongoing Shaheed Baba Banda Singh Bahadur Memorial Hockey Tourney being played at KK Hakku Stadium, here.
Khalsa Club, Gole Gujral will lock horns with Deshmesh Club, Nanak Nagar in the first semifinal, whereas MBS Simbal Club will take on Young Star Simble Camp in the second semifinal to be played.
Earlier, in the last match of the tournament, Dasmesh Club, Nanak Nagar crushed Hiranagar Hockey Club by 3-1 goals, but the team could not make it to semis due to low points.
In the first half, players of both the teams entered the ground with enthusiasm and passion. They started trading the goal side of each other and in the 18th minute, Gurpreet Singh of Guru Nanak Nagar Club after finding a gap netted the first goal of the match.
Sukhmeet Singh of Guru Nanak Nagar Club scored the goal in the 23rd minute and brought the opponent team under pressure of 2-0 goals.
As the players of Hiranagar Club failed to score even a single goal, the first half ended with 2-0 lead over them.
During five minutes break-time, the players of Guru Nanak Nagar Club were polishing their skills in the ground, whereas the players of Hiranagar Club were seen making strategies to win the match.
As the second half began, the players of Hiranagar Club as per their strategies raided the goal of opponent side and netted the goal in the 32nd minute through Abhinandan.
With this goal, the scorecard reached 2-1 goals, which provided some relief to the players of Hiranagar Club.
From 32nd minute to 50th minute, players of both Hiranagar and Guru Nanak Nagar Clubs sweated well to score the goal and raise the scorecard but failed.
In 51st minute, Gurpreet Singh of Guru Nanak Nagar Club bounced back and with his magic hockey, netted the goal. With this goal, the scorecard reached 3-1 goals.
The players of Hiranagar Club put their stern efforts to win the match, but failed and the match ended with 3-1 goals.
On the occasion, Prof Atamjit Singh was the chief guest, whereas OP Singh , Director Finance was the guest of honour. KN Singh Kavi, Balbir Singh, Gurdeep Singh Reen, besides hundreds of spectators witnessed the match.
The match was officiated by Mohammad Amin, Charanjit Singh, Gurmeet Singh, Gurjeet Singh, Jagjit Singh, Joginder Singh and Jaspreet Singh.
The tournament is being organized under the supervision of GS Bakshi, general secretary, Hockey J&K.
