SRINAGAR, Jan 21: The State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) celebrated its 3rd Annual Raising Day at its Headquarters here today.
Mehraj Shah, Commandant, SDRF 1st BN, took salute on March Past.
In his address, the Commandant highlighted the work done by SDRF during the year 2014 which included rescue operation at Sadhna Top on March 4, saving precious lives of six laborers after a building collapsed at Hyderpora on August 22, peaceful Shri Amar Nath Ji Yatra and rescue operations during recent devastating floods.
He said that SDRF personnel were the first responders to enter the worst flood hit areas like Pantha Chowk, Natipora, Mehjoor Nagar, Budshah Nagar, Padshahi Bagh, Nowgam and likewise. In these areas, the SDRF rescued more than 15000 inhabitants from the inundated areas, he added.
Bara Khana was also organized for the officers as well as jawans of the SDRF in the evening.
