KARGIL, Dec 29: In-charge Sub Divisional Magistrate (SDM) Zanskar Tsewang Rigzin inaugurated an Ice Hockey Rink at Zangla, here today.
The Rink was constructed by the Rural Development Department Kargil with the cost of Rs 25.63 lacs under MGNREGA.
Block Development Council (BDC) Chairperson Zanskar Block Stanzin Sangdup, SHO Zanskar, Officer Commanding GREF Zanskar and OC Army Camp Zanskar besides other Sub-Divisional officers were present during the function.
In-charge SDM hailed the efforts of the locals of Zangla for ensuring completion of the Rink in a short span of time while BDC Chairperson Zanskar expressed gratitude to the Block Development Officer (BDO) Zanskar and his team for their efforts to complete the construction in stipulated time frame.
Meanwhile, SDM also kicked off 15 days Ice Hockey coaching camp which is being organized by the Zanskar Winter Sports Foundation. Colourful Zanskari folk music and dances were performed by the local artists during the function.
