SCC to lock horns with FCC in finals

JAMMU, Mar 30: Singh Cricket Club (SCC) Akhnoor and Friends Cricket Club (FCC) Jourian entered in the finals of Police Martyrs Memorial Cricket Tourney by defeating their respective opponents in semi-final matches played at Akhnoor, here today.
The first semi-final match was played between Singh Cricket Club Akhnoor and Singh Challenger Akhnoor. After winning the toss, Singh Challenger elected to bat first and made a meager total of 80 runs in 15.5 overs by losing all the wickets. Jimmy Mangotra was the highest scorer with 26 runs. For SCC Akhnoor, Sny Mahi picked 5 wickets while Binny Kesar and Sham Singh Langeh took 2 wickets each. Chandan Sharma also got 1 wicket.
In reply, SCC Akhnoor easily chased the target of 81 runs in just 7.3 overs by losing two wickets and thus won the match by 8 wickets. Sny Mahi made highest 39 runs for his team while Sunil Govil also made unbeaten 39 runs. For Singh Challengers, Vipan and Sunny Bral took one wicket each. Sny Mahi of SCC Akhnoor was declared as Man of the Match for his excellent show with bat as well as ball.
The second semi-final match was played between Friends Cricket Club Jourian and Tacharwan Tigers. Tacharwan Tigers won the toss and elected to bat first. However, the team could not perform well and could score only 86 runs in 18.3 overs by losing all the wickets. Sunil Kumar scored 19 runs and Hritik Malhotra made 18 runs for Tacharwan Tigers. For FCC Jourian, Ritik scalped 3 wickets, whereas Goshu, Sonu and Kalu shared 2 wickets each. Robin also got one wicket.
While batting in second innings, FCC Jourian easily chased the given target in 12.3 overs by losing 4 wickets. In this way, FCC Jourian won the match by six wickets and entered in the semi finals of the Tournament. Goshu made highest 29 runs for FCC, followed by unbeaten 27 by Lakhan and 21 by Bhanu. For Tacharwan Tigers, Sunil Kumar took 3 wickets. Goshu of FCC Jourian was declared as Man of the Match for his all round performance with ball and bat.
Umpires for the semi-final matches were Dayal Singh and Vikas Bali while Dev Bhagel was the scorer.
The Tournament is being organized by District Police Jammu under the supervision of Mohan Lal Sharma (SDPO Akhnoor) and Inspector Harjeet Singh (Station House Officer, Akhnoor).
