SRINAGAR, Mar 30: Secretary Youth Services and Sports, J&K Government, Sarmad Hafeez today inaugurated the Srinagar leg of mega Chess Festival at Sher- e-Kashmir Indoor Stadium, here today.
On the occasion, he interacted with the players and praised All Jammu and Kashmir Chess Association for organising events and training camps in all 10 districts of Kashmir valley.
Sports Officer Kashmir, Nuzhat was also present on the occasion along with other prominent persons and members of AJKCA.
The events also started today in Kupwara, Budgam and Baramulla districts.
In Budgam district events and training camps were inaugurated by ADC Budgam Khursheed Ahmad Sanaie.
This Festival is being sponsored by J&K State Sports Council and was initiated by its Secretary, Dr Naseem Javaid Choudhary.
Festival is held under the guidance of Atul Kumar Gupta, President AJKCA and is being managed and organized by Ashiq Ahmad Kolu and all the members of Kashmir division and district bodies.
About 10,000 players are taking part in trainings and events in all 10 districts at different venues.
A total cash prize of Rs 1,50,000 and 240 medals will be distributed among the winners of this Festival.
