BANDIPORA, Apr 21: Safapora VB Club clinched the title at the Capt Vishal Bhandral, KC Memorial Volleyball Competition, which saw participation from 74 teams across North Kashmir.
The tournament, organised in memory of the slain officer, aimed to promote youth engagement, discipline and sportsmanship while honouring his legacy. The event drew significant public attention and reflected the growing interest in volleyball in the region.
Major General Tushar Sharma, VSM, General Officer Commanding Kilo Force and Brigadier Hemant Singh Ponwar, VSM, Commander 3 Sector Rashtriya Rifles, attended the final as chief guests. Several civil dignitaries and local residents were also present.
In a closely contested final, Safapora VB Club delivered a strong all-round performance to emerge victorious and lift the trophy. Jahama Warriors put up a spirited fight throughout the tournament but finished as runners-up after a hard-fought campaign.
Organisers said the competition provided a platform for young players to showcase their talent while encouraging constructive engagement through sports. The event concluded on a high note, with appreciation for the participating teams and the spirit of fair play displayed throughout the tournament.
