Ruturaj, Samihan emerge winners of chess selection events

JAMMU, Sept 12: Ruturaj Dhotre and Samihan Dhotre, both sons of an Army Colonel Rushikesh Dhotre emerged winners of senior open and under- 17 boys category by displaying high class play in the ongoing Jammu division chess selection events, here today.
Colonel Rushikesh and Colonel Ravi Kumar were the guests who declared open today’s event and explained the benefits of playing chess for brain development to young participants and asked them to channelize their energy in a positive direction.
In senior category other players who qualified for J&K UT events including Pranav Abrol, Mahesh Kumar, SP Sharma, Superb Jain, Mayank Kulkarni, Ankush Bhardwaj, Arvindu Sharma and Kartik Rajvansh, whereas in under-15 boys, Ruturaj Dhotre won Gold, Ayush Gupta and Mayank Kulkarni stood 2nd and 3rd respectively.
It is worthwhile to mention here that 15 years old Ruturaj won all the events wherein he participated.
All the matches were organized under the supervision of Atul Kumar Gupta, president All J&K Chess Association and Baldev Raj, vice-president. Bindu Pathania was chief arbiter while Ritish and Divyam Gupta were her deputies.
