SRINAGAR, Sept 12: 23rd District Budgam Taekwondo Championship, organised by District Association under the aegis of J&K Taekwondo Association, commenced at Railway Hall Budgam, here today.
The championship was inaugurated by the vice president (K), J&K Taekwondo Association, Nisar Hussain Wani, whereas Syed Ashaq Hussain, joint secretary (K) Association was guest of honour during the opening ceremony. A total of 150 players all over the Budgam district are taking part in the event.
In Sub-junior girls below 20 kg, Madiha Zainub, Syed Imral Jaan and Tilawal Riyaz secured top three medals respectively, whereas in below 24kg, top three medals were clinched by Aayat Farooq, Maleeha Naaz and Aalima Nazir and in below 29kg, Kafiya Nisar, Alsa Jan and Deeba Zehra won gold, silver and bronze medals respectively besides in below 41kg, Falaq Manzoor, Zeeshana Jan and Azmat Bilal bagged top three medals.
In Sub-junior boys below 25kg, Usman Latif , Faisal Bashir and Tahleel Ahmed remained 1st, 2nd and 3rd respectively, whereas in below 32kg, Hazik Hamad, Muneeb Shafi and Raja Azmat secured top three positions and in below 41kg, Nasir-ul-Islam, Mohd Sibtain and Furqaan Yousf won top three medals respectively.
Gazala Akhter (Divisional Sports Officer Central) J&K Sports council distributed medals among the winners.
