JAMMU, Apr 17: As part of the XIth Raising Day celebrations, the Yol based Rising Star Corps launched a 10 day trekking expedition to the towering Indrahar Pass in the mighty Dhauladhar Ranges in Himachal Pradesh, today.
The expedition comprising of four Officers and 16 other ranks was flagged off by Lt General Rajeev Tewari, General Officer Commanding, Rising Star Corps.
The team led by Major Mahesh Bhagwat will ascend its way up to the mighty Indrahar Pass at 15000 feet, starting from Mcleodganj, Dharamshala.
The trekkers are likely to encounter ice walls, avalanches and possible crevasses also the trek will pass through Triund and Lahesh Caves before embarking upon the final ascent to the snowcapped mountain and establishing the stamp of the Indian Army on one of the loftiest passes in the Dhauladhar Ranges.
The expedition will be flagged on April 26, 2015.
