Punjab sails on Neelam’s cracking ton; Jaise does it for Queens

JAMMU, Dec 22: Riding on a swashbuckling century by talented Neelam, Punjab Birds registered big win over Mumbai Mermaids, while Jaise Akhter after her brilliance on the other day, again scored power-packed fifty to help Srinagar Queens thrash Delhi Angels in the ongoing Chief Minister’s T20 Premier League, being jointly organized by J&K Police HG/CD/SDRF and State Sports Council at Parade ground, here.
Dr Hemla Aggarwal, Principal Women College Parade Jammu was the chief guest in the first match, while Seema Mir, Former National Player was the guest of honour. In another match, JP Singh, IGP Personnel PHQ was the chief guest and Ranjeet Singh, SP and Former National Player was the guest of honour.
The dignitaries were introduced with the participating teams in the presence of Ranjeet Kalra, Vice Chairman Sports Council Jammu.
Earlier, in the first match, Srinagar Queens defeated Delhi Angels by 9 wickets.
Batting first, Delhi Angels scored a paltry total of 89 runs. Rajni (45) and Priyanka (19) were the main scorers. From Srinagar Queens, Abreek took 2 wickets, while Bushra and Jesy shared 1 wicket each.
In reply, Srinagar Queens chased the target in 8.4 overs for the loss of 1 wicket, thus won the match by 9 wickets. Jaise Akther top scored with brisk 58 runs and Shiern contributed 19 runs to the total. From Delhi Angels, Sangeeta took te lone wicket to fall. Jaise was adjudged as the woman of the match for her all-round performance.
In the second match, Punjab Birds defeated Mumbai Mermaids by a huge margin of 122 runs.
Batting first, Punjab Birds scored a big total of 178 runs in 20 overs for no loss. Neelam scored unbeaten 115 runs off 67 balls, studded with 19 boundaries, while Radha contributed unbeaten 32 runs.
In reply, Kolkata Flamingos collapsed at 56 runs in 12.2 overs, thus lost the match by 122 runs. Nidhi (13) and Rubiya (10) were the main scorers. From bowling side, Neelam Bisht took 4 wickets, Manisha took 3 wickets and Shallu took 2 wickets. Neelam was declared as the women of the match for his all-round performance.
