POWERGRID Inter-Regional Carrom Tourney commences

JAMMU, Sept 5: The three-day POWERGRID Inter-Regional Carrom Tournament 2025 began today with great enthusiasm at Welcome Hotel by ITC, Amritsar. The tournament brings together eleven teams from various POWERGRID regions across India.
Participating teams include Southern Region-I (SR-I), Southern Region-II (SR-II), Eastern Region-I (ER-I), Eastern Region-II (ER-II), Western Region-I (WR-I), Western Region-II (WR-II), North Eastern Region (NER), Northern Region-I (NR-I), Northern Region-III (NR-III), Corporate Centre (CC) and host team Northern Region-II (NR-II). Matches are being played on a league-cum-knockout basis.
Over the course of the tournament, players will compete in team, doubles and singles championships across both male and female categories. The competition promises intense matches as teams strive for top honours in various formats.
The tournament was inaugurated with a grand opening ceremony. Tarun Bajaj, Executive Director (NRTS-II), declared the event open in the presence of Jagat Ram, General Manager (Punjab), Ashutosh K. Sharma, Sr. Deputy General Manager (HR), and other dignitaries from POWERGRID and the Chandigarh Carrom Association.
The event is being conducted under the supervision of the Carrom Association of Chandigarh, ensuring fair play and competitive spirit. The tournament not only fosters sportsmanship among employees but also promotes team bonding and inter-regional camaraderie within POWERGRID.
